Welcoming a new baby is one of the most meaningful seasons to document. This session began with a cozy winter maternity session in studio and continued with relaxed in-home newborn session after baby Clara arrived (a little early, I might add!). As a Michigan maternity photographer and Michigan newborn photographer, it’s always an honor to capture these early chapters of a family’s story.
One of my favorite things about this job is getting to photograph couples through multiple seasons of life. Kaylie and Colin’s story is one that truly came full circle for me.
I first photographed their engagement session in the fall of 2023, surrounded by that dreamy Michigan autumn color. The following year, I had the honor of documenting their October wedding at Everlastings in the Wildwood, a lush nursery venue that felt like stepping into a garden.
If you’ve seen their wedding on the blog, you might remember the stunning floral designs by Georgia. Her work added so much beauty to their day and helped bring Kaylie’s “outdoor maternity session” dreams to life in March.
And here’s a fun behind-the-scenes detail: I was one of the few people who knew Kaylie was pregnant at the wedding. Aside from their parents and a few members of the bridal party, it was a closely kept secret. When they announced the news during the reception, their guests absolutely erupted with excitement!

A Dreamy Winter Maternity Session
Fast forward a few months, and it was time for their maternity session.
Winter maternity photography in Michigan can be unpredictable, so Kaylie and Colin decided to bring the beauty of spring indoors. Their talented florist, and fellow newborn girl-mom, created a stunning floral installation, transforming the space into a soft, romantic garden.
Kaylie looked incredible in her dresses surrounded by blooms and greenery, and the natural window light made everything feel warm and dreamy. Sessions like this are a perfect reminder that winter maternity photography can still feel fresh, romantic, and full of life.

Welcoming Baby Clara | In-Home Newborn Photography in Michigan
Not long after their maternity session, their sweet baby girl Clara arrived.
Visiting them in their home for their newborn session felt like stepping into the next chapter of their story. In-home newborn photography is one of my favorite ways to document this season because everything feels relaxed and meaningful.
The nursery, the couch, the quiet moments between parents and baby — those are the memories families treasure most.
Kaylie and Colin were so natural with Clara, and their dogs made a few appearances too, which made the session even sweeter.

Why I Love Documenting Families Over Time
From engagement photos to wedding day to welcoming a baby, documenting these milestones is one of the most meaningful parts of my work as a Michigan maternity photographer and Michigan newborn photographer.
Kaylie and Colin’s journey has been such a joy to photograph, and I feel incredibly lucky to preserve these moments for their family.
