Amy has always loved the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House, so when I asked what they had in mind for their engagement photos, the Ford Estate in Grosse Pointe, MI made the short list. It’s easy to see why! This summer engagement session was giving me some serious “mid-summer’s night dream” vibes! It was hot and sticky, but gloriously sunny and a light breeze coming off the lake! AKA worth it!
Edsel and Eleanor Ford House
The home is located on a sprawling estate with beautiful grounds and gardens on the shore of Lake St. Clair, north of Detroit. The property is the historic family home of Edsel Ford, the only son of Henry Ford, his wife Eleanor and was opened to the public after her passing. The 87 acres of grounds and gardens make for beautiful nature walks, as well as stunning sunset photos on your wedding day!
Amy & Alex
So many blessings came out of the pandemic, and one of them was Amy and Alex meeting. They ended up quarantined together over Thanksgiving, and they’ve been living together ever since with their 3 dogs. When we first connected 6 weeks ago, they weren’t officially engaged yet, but they knew they wanted a September wedding. They realized they didn’t want to wait another year for their dream wedding venues in Detroit to have dates open, so they’re having the party at their house! Alex wants a big wedding, but Amy wants something more intimate, so they’re compromising: Immediate family is invited to their ceremony, and extended family and friends are invited to the reception. The best part of hosting at home will likely be that their fur babies will be in attendance.
