This spring, I had the pleasure of working with Downtown Kalamazoo’s newest wedding venue, The Desenberg, for a vibrant and playful wedding shoot. Collaborating with Rentalex Events for decor and Eastern Floral for bright pink flowers made the experience even more enjoyable.
The lovely Marah Robinette modeled a stunning modern wedding gown from Memories Bridal Shop, complemented by unique jewelry from Sweet Custom Jewelry. Riley Taite styled her hair with fun pearl accents, and Elma Subhan flawlessly applied her makeup, bringing the whole look together beautifully.

When I first arrived at The Desenberg, I was captivated by the venue’s stunning features. The 17-foot ceilings, modern design, and natural light pouring in from the floor-to-ceiling windows created the perfect setting for our Barbie-inspired wedding theme. I was eager to capture the bold colors and fun elements we incorporated into the design.
During the shoot, I focused on highlighting every detail—the intricate decor, the vibrant florals, and the elegance of the bridal gown and jewelry. My goal was to showcase a Barbie-inspired wedding in a way that felt both modern and sophisticated.
Marah effortlessly brought the timeless a-line bridal gown and pink jewelry to life, making the shoot a joy to photograph. The collaboration with Kalamazoo’s talented hair and makeup artists, along with the amazing decor and floral designers from west Michigan, truly elevated the experience.
Overall, the Barbie-inspired wedding shoot at The Desenberg was a huge success. I’m grateful for the chance to work with such a skilled team of west Michigan wedding vendors and to capture the beauty and magic of Kalamazoo weddings. As a Michigan wedding photographer, it’s always a delight to document the unique moments that make each wedding unforgettable.
